However, the low angle of the sun set behind my subject requires me to use flash, which tends to create an artificial, harsh look that takes away the authetic, golden light cast by the sun. How to keep the subject lit naturally? A : Great lighting is, of course, the path to great portraits! The secret to capturing the same light cast by the sun (which, as you say, is now behind the subject) is to use a reflector panel to cast it back around to the subject! Typically, one should use the same colored reflector as the color of the natural light source. Have this set up correctly, and your portraits will shine!
